Taking on Cruz in December
BantamweightUFC
September 29, 2021
Munhoz will face Dominick Cruz in a bantamweight matchup at UFC 269, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off his recent loss against Jose Aldo in early August, it was reported that Munhoz was considering a move to the flyweight division having lost three of his previous four fights. However, it appears the 35-year-old will remain at bantamweight in order to face Cruz on Dec. 11, though contracts have not yet been finalized. Munhoz' last win came back in February when he defeated Jimmie Rivera via unanimous decision.

Can't hang with Jose Aldo
BantamweightUFC
August 7, 2021
Munhoz lost to Jose Aldo via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 265 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Munhoz managed to keep this thing close for about a round before the Aldo began to pull away. It likely would not have mattered anyway, but Munhoz's game plan was baffling. He tried all sorts of spinning attempts and big movements, and that simply won't work against a veteran like Aldo who has seen and done it all in MMA. Munhoz has plenty of quality victories on his resume (Jimmie Rivera, Cody Garbrandt, Rob Font), but this felt like a fight he had to have and he obviously didn't get it. Munhoz turns 35 years of age this coming September, and his margin for error isn't great given his advanced age and the fact he's lost three of his past four fights.
Aldo fight in the works
BantamweightUFC
May 20, 2021
Munhoz is expected to take on Jose Aldo in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event on August 7, Raphael Marinho of Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Munhoz last fought back in February when he defeated Jimmie Rivera via unanimous decision. That was a solid bounce back after dropping fights to Frankie Edgar and Aljamain Sterling previously. Aldo is coming off a win last December against Marlon Vera.
Rides leg kicks to victory
BantamweightUFC
February 27, 2021
Munhoz defeated Jimmie Rivera via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Munhoz gets his revenge on Rivera after the latter took a split decision in the first fight between the two back in 2015. The Brazilian won this one on the strength of excellent game planning and even better execution. Munhoz made it a point to smash Rivera with leg kicks throughout the early portion of the bout, and that decision essentially won him the fight. While Rivera still landed his fair share of shots, the power and consistency simply wasn't there while fighting on one leg. It's all a credit to Munhoz, who has long been one of the more underrated fighters on the entire UFC roster. If Munhoz isn't a top five bantamweight at this point, he's not far behind. The pair will also walk away with $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses after this bout produced a highlight on a largely-lackluster card.
Gets new date for Rivera fight
BantamweightUFC
February 16, 2021
Munhoz will face Jimmie Rivera on Feb. 27, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the fourth scheduled date for this fight, as it's been previously set for Jan. 30, Jan. 20 and Feb. 13. Assuming there's not yet another complication, Munhoz will get the chance to avenge his 2015 split-decision loss against Rivera as he looks to halt his losing streak at two.
