Luukkonen was named the ECHL goaltender of the month Tuesday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. The Finnish prospect posted a 6-2-1 record and .925 save percentage in nine games for the Cincinnati Cyclones.
ANALYSIS
Luukkonen seems past a long-term hip injury, and he's begun his journey to start moving through the ranks, as he's been pegged as Buffalo's goaltender of the future. Linus Ullmark has been playing great under new goalie coach Mike Bales, but the results for Carter Hutton continue to draw mixed reviews. We could be seeing Luukkonen up in Buffalo in another year or two, so keeper-league owners should have him on radars.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Luukkonen was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres in the summer but will spend the 2018-19 season with the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL after a ban on European goalies was lifted. Despite a poor showing at the World Juniors, Luukkonen is considered one of the country's top young netminders and will likely be the starter for the Wolves. With four other goalies in the system already, the only way Luukkonen will see action with the Sabres or AHL Rochester is on an emergency call-up basis.
