Cameron Champ
24-Year-Old Golfer
2018–19 Fantasy Outlook
The 23-year-old out of Texas A&M burst onto the scene in 2017 at the U.S. Open, when he finished the first two days in a tie for eighth before ultimately posting a T32 in his major championship debut. His 2018 Tour campaign was highlighted by a win at the Utah Championship top-25s in half of his 20 starts. Champ missed just four cuts while ranking sixth in birdie average, fourth in GIR percentage and first in driving distance. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the running for Rookie of the Year honors on the PGA Tour in 2019. Read Past Outlooks
T54 at first PGA Championship
May 21, 2019
Champ made his PGA Championship debut with a tie for 54th place after rounds of 72-71-73-73.
It was bombs away for the longest hitter in the game on a course that was playing long and soft. Champ ranked third in SG: Off-the-tee despite finding less than 54 percent of the fairways. The 23-year-old continued his short game struggles, as he lost over six strokes around the greens. On the season Champ ranks dead last among qualified players on the PGA Tour in SG: Around-the-greens. This T54 snaps of streak of six straight missed cuts. Champ is in the field at Colonial, but he doesn't fit the player profile for success on one of the tour's oldest courses.
