Caps off season with strong outing
December 29, 2019
Cain rushed the ball 15 times for 92 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's win over Memphis in the Cotton Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's win marked the first time Cain received more than six carries since suffering an undisclosed injury in Week 7 against Iowa. The freshman didn't appear to be rusty, averaging over six yards per carry and visiting pay dirt twice. With fellow running back Journey Brown expected to return to Penn State next season, Cain will likely be sharing the carries in the Nittany Lion backfield next fall. However, Penn State has historically been reliant on the run under head coach James Franklin, so Cain may still have an opportunity to put up strong numbers in 2020.
