Though the Pirates have shut down Polanco (shoulder) for the season, Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said the outfielder is expected to be ready for the start of 2020, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Archer (shoulder) probably won't pitch another inning in 2019, according to Nubyjas Wilborn of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. However, Archer is expected to be in the Pirates' rotation next season, Neal Huntington said on his weekly radio show for 93.7 The Fan, and Wilborn expects the Pirates to pick up Archer's 2020 option.
