Jed Anderson
Not in Community Series lineup
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Calf
March 5, 2021
Anderson (calf) has not been included in the Roos' lineup for Saturday's Community Series contest versus Hawthorn.
ANALYSIS
Anderson should be ready for the start of the regular season but will apparently require the extra downtime to get right ahead of it. As a result, he will sit out the clash Saturday, leaving a younger North Melbourne squad to take on the Hawks.
Ben Cunnington
Suffers setback in recovery
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Concussion
March 4, 2021
Cunnington has suffered a setback in his recovery from a concussion and will not play in the weekend's Community Series game versus Hawthorn, Fox Footy reports.
ANALYSIS
Cunnington was originally expected to make his return this weekend but will have to push that back until at least Round 1. When healthy, he figures to be a key piece in the Roos midfield again in 2021.
Ben Cunnington
Should be back
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Concussion
March 4, 2021
Cunnington should return in Friday's practice match against Hawthorn after completing concussion protocol, according to Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Cunnington missed the first practice match last week against St. Kilda but has since had no other issues in training. He only played three times in 2020 and will hope to be available more consistently in 2021.
Jared Polec
Has hamstring issue
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Hamstring
March 3, 2021
Polec may not play in Friday's preseason match against Hawthorn due to a hamstring injury, per Riley Beveridge of the league's official website.
ANALYSIS
Polec still figures to be ready for round one but could be kept out of Friday's match while he completes his recovery. While not always a high-value option, Polec is capable of putting up solid numbers with a season-high of 25 disposals in a single match and collecting at least three marks in all but three matches in 2020.
Trent Dumont
Doubt for preseason match
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Calf
March 3, 2021
Dumont is "touch-and-go" for Friday's preseason match against Hawthorn due to a calf injury, according to Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Dumont is one of a few of the 'Roos reliable midfielders last season who may not play Friday. Even if he misses this match, there's little to suggest that he won't be ready for the regular season.
Jed Anderson
Questionable for preseason match
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Calf
March 3, 2021
Anderson is questionable for Friday's preseason match against Hawthorn due to a calf injury, according to Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Anderson is still likely to be ready when the regular season begins, but for now his status is still unclear for this preseason match. He was one of the 'Roos best last season with 28-or-more disposals on four different occasions and will hope to continue his fine efforts in 2021.
Charlie Comben
Still far from returning
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Leg
March 3, 2021
Comben (leg) is still out indefinitely, per Riley Beveridge of the AFL's official website.
ANALYSIS
Comben didn't play at all in 2020 and still has a long way to go before he's back on the pitch.
Matthew McGuinness
One month away from returning
DNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Finger
March 3, 2021
McGuinness is expected to return in a month as he recovers from a finger injury, according to Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
McGuinness will be in his first professional season but has to wait until later in April to make his debut.
Aiden Bonar
Will miss beginning of season
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Shoulder
March 3, 2021
Bonar is expected to miss the beginning of the regular season due to a calf injury, according to Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Bonar ended last season with a shoulder injury and begins the new one with a calf issue. He never recorded more than 12 disposals in six appearances last season.
Jared Polec
Ends season on a high note
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 18, 2020
Polec ended with 25 disposals (20 kicks, five handballs), four marks and two tackles in Thursday's 49-34 loss to West Coast.
ANALYSIS
Polec ended his season on a high-note, amassing a season-high 25 disposals. The Kangaroos led early before being run down, summing up their disappointing season. The club wasted no time wielding the axe, cutting 11 players from their senior roster only hours after the loss. There are going to be a number of changes coming around the club and based on their efforts this season, that certainly can't be a bad thing.
Jed Anderson
Masterful performance in loss
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 18, 2020
Anderson contributed 30 disposals (16 kicks, 14 handballs), three tackles, one mark and one goal in Thursday's 49-34 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Anderson was fantastic on Thursday, churning out a career-high 30 disposals to go with five clearances and five inside-50s. In a season the Kangaroos would rather forget, Anderson has been one of their best, consistently racking up more than 20 disposals on a regular basis. He ends the season inside the top-20 in total tackles, goal assists and stoppage clearances.
Tristan Xerri
Leaves hub to undergo shoulder surgery
RNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Shoulder
September 16, 2020
Xerri (shoulder) has left the Queensland hub to undergo shoulder reconstruction.
ANALYSIS
With just one contest remaining in the Kangaroos' season, it appears Xerri will call it an end a bit early to get his shoulder complaint taken care of. He recently inked a new two-year deal with North Melbourne that will keep him with the club through 2022.
Aiden Bonar
Out with shoulder injury
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Shoulder
September 16, 2020
Bonar will not play in the finale of the home and away season due to a shoulder injury.
ANALYSIS
The extent of Bonar's injury hasn't been revealed, but it's serious enough that he will give way for the team's final contest of 2020. He will aim to retake the field to open 2021.
Aiden Bonar
Offers very little in return to action
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 12, 2020
Bonar had just six disposals (four kicks, two handballs) and three marks in Saturday's 99-35 loss to Fremantle.
ANALYSIS
Bonar returned to the lineup after missing almost a month of action with a shoulder injury. His lack of match practice was clearly evident as he managed just six disposals in the heavy loss. Playing in his first season, Bonar is set one of many young players on the Kangaroos roster. With very little left to play for, the Kangaroos are likely to roll their youth out for the final game against West Coast next Thursday.
Jy Simpkin
Logs six clearances in loss
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 12, 2020
Simpkin totaled 15 disposals (three kicks, 12 handballs) and four tackles in Saturday's 99-35 loss to the Dockers.
ANALYSIS
Simpkin had been questionable heading into Saturday's game after receiving a head knock in the Dockers loss to the Power. He took his place in the starting lineup and was one of the Roos' best with a game-high six clearances. The Kangaroos are merely playing out the season at this point and could actually take out the wooden spoon should the resurgent Crows continue on their winning ways.
Aiden Bonar
Returning to action
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 11, 2020
Bonar (shoulder) will return to the lineup for Saturday's match versus Fremantle.
ANALYSIS
Bonar's AC joint sprain cost him nearly a month, but he's finally ready to retake his spot among the North Melbourne 22. He will slot in as one of four interchanges for the Kangaroos but doesn't quite have the upside to warrant consistent fantasy consideration.
Jy Simpkin
Good to go
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 11, 2020
Simpkin (concussion) will play in Saturday's match versus Fremantle.
ANALYSIS
Simpkin departed the previous contest due to a knock to the head that resulted in a concussion but has apparently passed all of the necessary tests. He will slot in as a centre alongside Shaun Higgins and Jared Polec.
Kyron Hayden
Done for season with knee issue
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Knee
September 11, 2020
Hayden (knee) will not return to the pitch this season, per the AFL's injury list.
ANALYSIS
Hayden was allegedly being managed during his first absence, but it has since evolved to a knee issue that will prevent him from retaking the field again in 2021. He will aim to get right ahead of next season.
Taylor Garner
Set for season debut
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 11, 2020
Garner (hamstring) has been included in the lineup for Saturday's match versus Fremantle.
ANALYSIS
Garner appeared in nine games for the Roos last season, averaging 13.2 disposals, 3.6 marks and three tackles per contest. He's set to slot in as an interchange in his first action of 2020.
Jy Simpkin
Exits with concussion
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
Concussion
September 5, 2020
Simpkin suffered a concussion during Saturday's game against the Power.
ANALYSIS
The length of Simpkin's absence will likely be determined at a later date, but he will at least have a little time to rest up despite the condensed schedule with the Roos not returning to the pitch until next Friday.
Lachlan Hosie
Struggles in heavy loss Saturday
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 5, 2020
Hosie had just three disposals, one mark and one tackle in Saturday's 78-42 loss to Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
It was just the fifth game of his career for Hosie who unfortunately racked up season-low numbers. The Kangaroos have nothing to play for at this point other than pride and developing their young players is going to be a priority moving forward. Hosie should continue to receive ample opportunities but is yet to establish himself as any sort of reliable contributor.
Luke Davies-Uniacke
Roos best in Saturday's loss
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 5, 2020
Davies-Uniacke compiled 23 disposals (nine kicks, 14 handballs), three marks and two tackles in Saturday's 78-42 loss to the Power.
ANALYSIS
Playing in only his seventh game of the season, Davies-Uniacke turned in his best performance thus far. He topped the clearance count for the Roos and was involved in six of their scores. He is continuing to look more comfortable with each performance and has certainly provided a bright spot for the team in what has been an otherwise disappointing season.
Jack Ziebell
Back for Roos
FNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
September 4, 2020
Ziebell will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's match versus the Power.
ANALYSIS
Ziebell was expected to miss four weeks because of his hamstring issue, but that timetable extended as the team took a cautious approach. Ziebell is set to retake his place up front and is listed as a half-forward alongside Nick Larkey and Mason Wood.
Todd Goldstein
Controlled in loss
RNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
August 30, 2020
Goldstein made 21 hitouts and completed five clearances while also logging 14 disposals (four kicks, 10 handballs) during Sunday's 91-28 loss to Gold Coast Suns.
ANALYSIS
Goldstein has been one of the best players in the league all season, but but even he can't do it all without more help. He was kept to another average performance by counterpart Jarrod Witts, who ended up winning their battles by a slim margin. As the season winds down, keep an eye on the ruck matchups before selecting Goldstein.
Jed Anderson
Logs 20 disposals in loss
MNorth Melbourne Kangaroos
August 30, 2020
Anderson logged 20 disposals (11 kicks, nine handballs) and made four marks during Sunday's 91-28 loss to Gold Coast Suns.
ANALYSIS
Anderson has had some exceptionally productive matches of late, but was held tight by a dominant showing from the Suns. Of his club's options, Anderson represents one of the few with a regular chance to put up a big game.
