Will Kelly
Suffers broken collarbone
FCollingwood Magpies
Collarbone
March 5, 2021
Kelly fractured his collarbone Friday versus Richmond, AFLRatings.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelly is set to undergo surgery in the near future. The Magpies haven't yet offered an official timetable for his return, but there's no doubt that Kelly will be forced to miss multiple weeks as he works to recover.
Will Kelly
In lineup for Community Series
FCollingwood Magpies
March 4, 2021
Kelly (elbow) will play in the Community Series clash with Richmond on Friday, the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelly was expected to be ready for the start of the season and his inclusion on Friday's team list confirms that notion. He will slot in as a full forward alongside Jamie Elliott and Josh Daicos.
Brody Mihocek
Dealing with leg knock
FCollingwood Magpies
Leg
March 3, 2021
Mihocek has been limited in training and will be a doubt to feature in Friday's practice match against Richmond, according to Mitch Cleary of the league's official website.
ANALYSIS
Mihocek seems likely to miss this preseason match after picking up a knock in a practice match last week but there is little to suggest he won't be ready for the regular season. He led Collingwood with 20 goals in 16 matches during the 2020 season.
Chris Mayne
Out against Richmond
FCollingwood Magpies
Concussion
March 3, 2021
Mayne will miss Friday's preseason match against Richmond as he completes concussion protocol, per Mitch Cleary of the AFL's official website.
ANALYSIS
Mayne should have no problems returning when the regular season begins but is prohibited from featuring Friday even if he no longer feels unfit. Look for him to return against Western Bulldogs at the start of the season, which begins for Mayne on Mar. 19.
Taylor Adams
Returning from hamstring injury
MCollingwood Magpies
Hamstring
March 3, 2021
Adams is a doubt to face Richmond in Friday's preseason match against Richmond, according to Mitch Cleary of the AFL's official website.
ANALYSIS
Adams is expected to return when the regular season gets underway but for now isn't at full fitness. He was one of the better fantasy options throughout 2020 and figures to continue as a top option unless he proves otherwise.
Steele Sidebottom
Appears in practice match
MCollingwood Magpies
March 3, 2021
Sidebottom was named to the roster for a Feb. 25 practice match against Geelong.
ANALYSIS
Sidebottom was absent for nearly half of last season but without any more issues to take care of figures to be potential fantasy star in the coming campaign. While those absences in 2020 should cause some pause, it just means that it's important to make sure that Sidebottom is actually available before selecting him.
Will Kelly
Should be ready for season
FCollingwood Magpies
Elbow
March 3, 2021
Kelly didn't make the roster for the Feb. 25 practice match against Geelong but hasn't appeared on any injury report since undergoing surgery on a fractured elbow.
ANALYSIS
As long as Kelly's name appears on the team sheet for Friday's preseason match against Richmond, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. He suffered that elbow injury on his debut last season, so he'll need more time to establish a fantasy value before the season begins.
Jeremy Howe
Returns in practice match
DCollingwood Magpies
March 3, 2021
Howe made his return from a ruptured MCL during a Feb. 25 practice match against Geelong, according to ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Howe didn't appear in a single match after picking up the injury against GWS in late June of last season. He'll be a dangerous marking threat after collecting 26 from four appearances in 2020 if he can stay healthy in the coming season.
Mason Cox
Crashes back to earth in loss
FCollingwood Magpies
October 10, 2020
Cox tallied just four disposals (two kicks, two handballs) and two marks in Saturday's 100-32 loss to Geelong.
ANALYSIS
After turning in his best performance of the season only one week prior, Cox was invisible for the Magpies as they were thumped to the tune of 68 points. It was a forgettable night for the club with the majority of their roster appearing to lose all confidence as early as the second quarter.
Taylor Adams
Magpies best in forgettable loss
MCollingwood Magpies
October 10, 2020
Adams contributed 17 disposals (12 kicks, five handballs) and five tackles in Saturday's 100-32 loss to the Cats.
ANALYSIS
Adams left the game early with an apparent elbow injury but was able to return, ending as the Magpies' best player. It ends what has been a strong season for Adams, finishing second in the league in total tackles and third in total clearances. He consistently racks up at least 20 disposals per contest and as he enters the peak of his career, he should continue to be a highly sought after fantasy target moving forward.
Trey Ruscoe
Off injury list
MCollingwood Magpies
October 7, 2020
Ruscoe (hip) isn't among the players on the Magpies' injury list ahead of Saturday's semi-final match versus Geelong, Riley Beveridge of the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Ruscoe has been sidelined since late August by a hip issue but looks to be clear of it as the season winds down. Even so, he's unlikely to draw in for the Magpies after taking part in just four matches during the home-and-away season.
Brayden Sier
Off injury list
MCollingwood Magpies
October 7, 2020
Sier (quad) is no longer listed on the Magpies' injury list, Riley Beveridge of the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sier could be called up for the Magpies' semi-final Saturday versus Geelong, but it's also possible the selection committee will run with the same lineup that earned the team victory over West Coast in the last contest. Regardless, it seems like Sier's quad issue is behind him at this point.
Jordan Roughead
Rough night in Saturday's win
DCollingwood Magpies
October 3, 2020
Roughead totaled just five disposals (two kicks, three handballs) and one mark in Saturday's 76-75 victory over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Roughead struggled to contain the Eagles bigs, turning in a disappointing performance Saturday. Lucky for him, the Magpies were able to eke out a one-point victory thanks to a strong effort from their forward line. His job certainly doesn't get any easier next week, coming up against the Coleman medallist who himself, will be looking to bounce back after a terrible kicking night in Thursday's loss to Port Adelaide.
Mason Cox
Stands tall in narrow victory
FCollingwood Magpies
October 3, 2020
Cox amassed six disposals (four kicks, two handballs), five marks, three goals and one tackle in Saturday's 76-75 victory over West Coast.
ANALYSIS
Cox booted three first-quarter goals in what was the best quarter of footy he has played in over two years. Cox has had a disappointing season and so this performance certainly came at the right time. After a dominant first term, Cox took a back seat and offered very little in terms of production down the stretch. The Pies will now face another tough encounter when they face the Cats in a must-win semi-final next week.
Brody Mihocek
Boots Magpies to victory Saturday
FCollingwood Magpies
October 3, 2020
Mihocek finished with 10 disposals (eight kicks, two handballs), four marks, three goals and one tackle in Saturday's 76-75 victory over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Mihocek proved vital for the Pies in their one point victory, booting three goals, including the game-sealing kick with only minutes remaining. He has been arguably the Magpies best player this season and is going to need to continue his strong form if they are to defeat Geelong in next weeks semi-final.
Chris Mayne
Back for elimination final
FCollingwood Magpies
October 2, 2020
Mayne (head) will return to action in Saturday's elimination final versus West Coast, Tom Robertson of the Magpies' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Mayne sat out the final month of the home-and-away season due to head injuries but has recovered well enough at the right time. He will slot in as a centre for the contest alongside Adam Treloar and Josh Daicos.
Ben Reid
Decides to retire
DCollingwood Magpies
September 29, 2020
Reid has elected to retire, Riley Beveridge of the AFL's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Reid has been bothered by a hamstring injury since mid-August and has elected to call it a career after appearing in just two matches for the Magpies this season. He tallied three goals, 11 disposals, three marks and a tackle in his two matches for Collingwood.
Jack Crisp
Solid in loss
DCollingwood Magpies
September 21, 2020
Crisp collected 25 disposals (11 kicks, 14 handballs) and made four tackles during Monday's 61-45 loss to Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Crisp finished off the season with 25 disposals in two of the last three matches and 30 in the other. It's a good time to be peaking just before the finals begin, but depending on when they start, Crisp may have to wait too long and fall out of rhythm.
Brodie Grundy
Finishes season as top ruck
RCollingwood Magpies
September 21, 2020
Grundy collected 18 disposals (five kicks, 13 handballs) and completed 36 hitouts during Monday's 61-45 loss to Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Grundy finishes the season as the league leader in hitouts to complete both a productive and reliable campaign for the Magpies. Even if his team makes a few mistakes, Grundy should have no problems continuing to play well in the elimination final against West Coast Eagles.
Taylor Adams
Works hard in loss
MCollingwood Magpies
September 21, 2020
Adams collected 26 disposals (16 kicks, 10 handballs) and made 11 tackles during Monday's 61-45 loss to Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Adams got back into the team after missing the win over Gold Coast. He finished the season tied for 11th in tackles and would consistently make a high amount of touches. While this contest saw the best team in the league get the result, Adams will still be very important in the elimination final against West Coast Eagles.
Travis Varcoe
Quiet in Monday's victory
FCollingwood Magpies
September 15, 2020
Varcoe tallied just eight disposals (five kicks, three handballs), four marks, one behind and one tackle in Monday's 68-46 victory over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Varcoe was back in the lineup for the Pies after sitting out the previous three games. The veteran forward provided another steadying presence in the victory but failed to translate that into fantasy production. Varcoe certainly falls into the category of those players who offer more value from a reality standpoint and he is not someone to prioritize in fantasy formats.
Adam Treloar
Hits the grough running in return
MCollingwood Magpies
September 15, 2020
Treloar amassed 26 disposals (10 kicks, 16 handballs), five tackles and one mark in Monday's 68-46 victory over the Gold Coast.
ANALYSIS
Treloar picked up where he left off in Monday's victory, totaling a game-high 26 disposals after missing more than five weeks with a hamstring injury. Despite only having played seven games this season, Treloar currently ranks first in the league in both contested possessions and stoppage clearances per game. The Pies booked their finals date with the victory and with both Treloar and Jordan De Goey returning to the lineup, they could certainly make some noise heading into postseason footy.
Jordan de Goey
Boots Pies to victory Monday
FCollingwood Magpies
September 15, 2020
De Goey finished with 10 disposals (eight kicks, two handballs), four goals, two behinds, two marks and one tackle in Monday's 68-46 victory over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Having not played since mid-July, De Goey returned and had an instant impact, booting four goals as the Pies secured a finals spot for the third straight season. He underwent finger surgery after the round 7 victory over the Cats and there had been concerns his regular season was done. Fortunately for the Pies, he was able to rehab the injury and his presence on the field is going to make a big difference to their premiership hopes.
Adam Treloar
Set to return Monday
MCollingwood Magpies
September 11, 2020
Treloar (hamstring) should return Monday against Gold Coast.
ANALYSIS
Treloar missed over a month with a hamstring injury, but he'll be back in action Monday. Prior to the injury, Treloar had 176 disposals over six games this year.
Jordan de Goey
Slated to return
FCollingwood Magpies
September 11, 2020
De Goey (finger) will return to action Monday against Gold Coast.
ANALYSIS
De Goey was sidelined for a considerable period of time after undergoing finger surgery, but he'll be ready to play Monday. Head coach Nathan Buckley said that there's some risk surrounding his return, but the team is happy that he's available once again.
